On 8th March 2013, Believers Church Kolkata Diocese prepared, packed and delivered 270 meals to the needy. The diocesan staff divided into three groups and visited a bus stand, a few railway stations and three orphanages.
The leader of Asha Mission Children Home called the next day, saying, “Thank you very much for the food toward the children.” The meal brought joy to the home.
After the distribution, a staff member wrote, “We have seen the actual tears of the many beggars, neglected, the old men and women, the widows and the orphan children while they were getting a delicious food package.” Overall, it was a meaningful time, and the recipients and institutions were grateful toward Believers Church.
Distributing food is only one of many ways the church uplifts the poor. Poverty alleviation, clean water supply and relief work are a few more examples.
