A team of Believers Church workers left for Batticaloa district on 9th January, carrying 200 flood relief packets. Each packet contained rice, dal, sugar, dried fish, soya meat and soap.
The team managed to reach their destination despite difficulties while traveling on flooded roads. The heavy rain brought down huge trees, forcing vehicles to change their routes.
The Believers Church team traveled to Periya Urani, Jayanthi Puram, Arumugathan Kudierrupu, Ambalan Thurai, Kalawanji Kudi and Kokketi Cholai villages. They distributed relief supplies in each of these devastated areas. The team found most of the flood victims staying in schools and distributed floor mats for them to sleep on.
