Believers Eastern Church Diocese of Colombo held a relief supply distribution in Galle District of Sri Lanka on 31st May 2018 where incessant rains and the over flowing of Gin Ganga river resulted in heavy flooding, forcing many to take shelter in schools and other buildings.
During this time of crisis, Believers Eastern Church took initiative to provide cooked meals to those displaced by the floods in one of the severe flood-affected areas. A local vicar and parish members distributed meals, both lunch and dinner to 35 persons, including those who had taken shelter in the church building.
On 31st May the church distributed dry ration items to 11 flood-affected families. Each family received a dry ration pack consisting of 10 kg rice, 1 kilogram each of sugar and flour, and other essential items like canned fish, salt, soya meat, biscuits, curry powder, chili powder and tea leaves.
Through this distribution the church was able to help 55 people with immediate necessities.
