Flood-Affected Families in Diocese of Dhemaji Receive New BioSand Water Filters

Believers Church Diocese of Dhemaji distributed 40 BioSand water filters to flood-affected families in Assam on 20th of October 2014.

Heavy rainfalls submerged large areas of the state in water during the month of August. This contaminated water sources with microbes and bacteria and has led to an increase in water-borne diseases. And also the people could not afford their own water filter because they had just lost their livelihoods during the floods. Seeing the need for clean drinking water, the church organized this distribution.

Mr. Toker Mili (Panchayat President) inaugurated the program and distributed the water filters to each beneficiary.

“My daughter is affected with jaundice because of drinking this impure water,” said Babuk Mili, a beneficiary. “But from today onwards, this filter will protect my family from water borne diseases. Thank you so much for gifting us a water filter.”
