As part of its community development program, Believers Church Diocese of Delhi carried out a mass mosquito net distribution on June 25, 2016. Quality and durable mosquito nets were distributed to 500 needy and poor families that day.
The recipients are from slums where they are exposed to hazardous unsanitary conditions. Poor drainage system and water stagnation in these slums increase mosquito breeding and that put the residents at higher risk of contracting mosquito borne diseases like malaria and dengue fever. Mostly children fall victims to these illnesses. Though a simple mosquito net can offer protection against infected mosquitoes, many families living in these slums cannot afford even this basic necessity.
So, to provide help to such people and to bring awareness about the menace of mosquito bites, the church organized this distribution program.
Mr. Gulab Singh (MLA) inaugurated the event. He appreciated the humanitarian works of the church. While delivering the presidential address, Bishop Dr. Simon John, the Bishop of Diocese of Delhi, remarked that the diocese has embarked on a drive to distribute mosquito nets to 5,000 needy families in Delhi/NCR.
