The Fast begins on June 16 and ends on June 29. The practice of this fast is to follow in the Apostles’ footsteps (Hebrews 13:7) who fasted in fulfillment of the Lord Jesus’ words in St Matthew 9:15.
St. Thomas, also called “Doubting Thomas,” despite his initial unbelief in the Resurrection, came to confess Jesus Christ as “Lord and God.” According to tradition, he preached the Gospel to the Parthians and South Indians and even today, the Syrian Christians in Kerala identify themselves as “St. Thomas Christians” in memory of this great Apostle.
