Believers Eastern Church Diocese of Kathmandu held a relief supply distribution at a landslide-hit village on 29 August 2019 to render help to families affected by the tragedy.
The rain-triggered landslide buried more than 10 houses in the area and two people went missing while they were trying to avoid being buried by the landslide. A total of 34 families were badly affected by the calamity. All their belongings, including food grains and cloths were destroyed and drinking water pipes and taps were also damaged.
The diocese provided relief supplies to all the 34 affected families in this village. Each family received a sack of 30 kg rice, 1 litre oil, 2 kg of salt, a mattress. A pipeline also was provided to the community. The timely help from the church brought much relief and joy to these families and they wholeheartedly thanked the church for the great help.
Mr. Jhalak Kumar Karki (Ward Chairperson) expressed his heartfelt thanks to the church for showing love and compassion to the victims.
“Thank you so much for reaching out to help us in our time of suffering. We were very much worried and distressed because we lost everything in the landslide. But you came and helped us” said another recipient named Ramesh Karki.
