Election and Enthronement Details of the New Metropolitan

The Holy Synod met at 10 am today at the Synod Secretariat in the Church’s global headquarters to prayerfully select the next Metropolitan of the Church, in accordance with her constitution and the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

After prayerfully making their deliberations, the members of the Holy Synod unanimously selected the HG Dr. Samuel Mor Theophilus Episcopa, Archbishop of Chennai, to be the successor to Metropolitan Athanasius Yohan I of blessed memory.

The Holy Synod also announced that the enthronement of the Metropolitan Elect would be held at 8 am on June 22 at the St. Thomas Believers Eastern Church Cathedral in Kuttapuzha, Thiruvalla.

The felicitation program for the newly enthroned Metropolitan would be held the same day at 11:30 am at the Mor Athanasius Yohan Memorial Convention Centre in the St. Thomas Community campus (global church headquarters).
