On 8 September 2021, Believers Eastern Church Diocese of Kathmandu organized a graduation program for tailoring graduates who had successfully completed their six-month vocational training in tailoring.
The tailoring center was started in 2019 by the priest and members of a parish in Chitwan district with the aim of equipping the underprivileged women of the community with tailoring skills that that they can use to earn a living. Since 2019, many women have been trained at the center.
The recent batch initially had altogether 15 women, but 7 of them could not continue the training due to the spread of Coronavirus and other reasons. Those who live near the center could complete the training successfully in spite of the pandemic.
During the graduation program, the eight graduates were awarded with course completion certificates. All of them expressed their happiness and gratitude to the church for providing them free skills training in tailoring.
Tulsi, one of the graduates, said, “I was an unskilled woman and I had no skill of any sort except cooking food, but the Church has made me skillful. I would like to thank the church for providing us with free vocational training. I will always be indebted to the church.
