On December 27th 2013 a communal riot broke out in the state of Assam. Many people were killed and villages were burned to the ground. These incidents forced thousands people to move into relief camps.
A total of 3,375 people are staying in four refugee camps. They are staying in crowded refugee camps with little shelter or warmth. Two hundred children were among the refugees.
In January 2014, Believers Church Diphu Diocese visited four camps and distributed food packets. Each food packet consisted of dal, potato, rice, tea leaves and biscuits. Apart from that, tarpaulins and clothes were also distributed for the needy.
This is just one example of how Believers Church responds to local needs with practical relief supplies.
