Believers Church Diocese of Vijayawada organized an income-generating gift distribution program to help the underprivileged women on 20th April 2016.
Shri. B. Gopala Krishna Reddy (Minister of Environment & Forests, Science & Technology and Cooperation) inaugurated the program in the presence of other dignitaries. He appreciated the church for taking various initiatives to empower the needy people in society and distributed the gifts among the beneficiaries.
183 women, who were given with six months of training in tailoring through the church’s vocational training program, received free sewing machine that day. In the coming days, this gift will help them to earn a constant income and support their family’s needs.
“I used to go for daily wage labor to run my family. But, the income I earned through this was very limited and I was struggling to balance my family’s needs with it,” said Shanthi, a widow and a mother of two children. “Now onwards, I will be able to earn at least 150 Rs each day. Thank you so much for giving me an opportunity to learn tailoring freely and also for gifting me with a sewing machine.”
