Diocese of Tezpur Distributes BioSand Water Filters for Needy Communities

The Diocese of Tezpur held a BioSand water filter distribution program on 3rd June 2014. Thirty families got benefited from the program.

The villagers depended on the nearby ring well for their water needs. The bottom rings of the well were already broken and the water was mixed with sand and mud. Without another option, the villagers had to use this impure water. Under these circumstances Believers Church decided to distribute water filters for the villagers.

Mr. Abinash Basumatary (Panchayat President) was the chief guest of the program. In his speech he said that “People usually take things from others, but Believers Church provides things to the needy people. The church’s poverty alleviation program is well-known among our administration too.”

The clean water project is one among the many projects of the church which aim to uplift the needy and poor.
