Believers Church Diocese of Solan held a gift distribution program on 23rd June 2016 to commemorate International Widows Day.
Inaugurating the camp, Bishop Simon John from Diocese of Delhi said that every year Believers Church conducts this type of program in every diocese to help thousands of widows to climb out of poverty.
Mr. Ashok Sharma and Mr. Jagdish Sharma from Revenue office in Solan were the chief guests of the program. Addressing the gathering Mr. Jagdish said, “What Believers Church is doing for the upliftment of the poor in our society is very much appreciable”. He appreciated the church for taking efforts to reach out to the poor and destitute with help, even in interior villages.
During the event, various helpful items such as sewing machines, provision items, ladies suit and sweater were distributed to widows. Altogether 14 widows received the gifts that day.
Nirmala Devi, a widow, said “The gift was given with love and care and that makes me happy, feel wonderful and truly blessed. With this gift I will be able to earn a living and take care of my family. I express my heartfelt thanks to the church for the gift”.
