On 12th July 2016, Believers Church Diocese of Siliguri conducted a graduation ceremony for tailoring trainees to felicitate them on successful completion of a tailoring training course. Twelve women graduated that day and they were gifted with sewing machines to help them start their own tailoring businesses.
These women underwent a six-month vocational training course in a tailoring unit started by Bridge of Hope in 2015. They are the first batch of graduates produced by this tailoring unit. The main aim of opening this tailoring unit was to create employment opportunities for poor women by equipping them with the skills they need to break the cycle of poverty and become financially independent.
Mr. Sankar Malakar (MLA) was the chief guest on the occasion. Dignitaries from different panchayats also were present at the program which had an audience of around 150 people. Mr. Sankar Malakar (MLA) distributed the sewing machines and certificates to the trainees.
