On 8th July 2017, Believers Church Diocese of Shillong held a mosquito net distribution program at a remote jungle area in Meghalaya.
There are four villages situated in this region where around 600 families are residing. These families are very poor and they earn their living through paddy cultivation, rearing pigs and chicken.
Many of them regularly suffered from malaria since they are living on the fringe of the forest where malaria vectors are found in abundance.
To help these families, the church distributed 800 mosquito nets among them. Altogether 400 families received the bed nets that day.
Putish Marwein, headman of one of the villages said, “I am so thankful to Believers Church for this help. Though you do not know us and have no blood relationship with us, but you came and showed your love to our people. I could see God’s love in your work. This is how a church should be – helping the poor and needy.”
