On the occasion of International Widows Day, 23rd June 2016, Believers Church Diocese of Sambalpur organized a gift distribution program in which kitchen items were distributed to the most deserving and poor widows.
Mrs. Kunjalata Bhitriya (Block Chairman, Kinjirkela Block), was the chief guest of the program. “Widows contribute to society by playing different roles as mothers, caregivers and heads of families,” she said. She also appreciated the work of Believers Church towards the upliftment of widows.
On this special occasion, the Diocese distributed various kitchen items such as pressure cooker, cooking pot and spoons to 26 widows to honor them on this special day. This noble gesture of the church brought smile on the faces of the widows and they indeed felt honored.
Raibari Tigga, a daily laborer, said, “I wanted to buy a pressure cooker for a long time, but due to financial constraints, I could not buy. I am so thankful to Believers Church, because, through this church, today I received not only pressure cooker but also cooking pot and spoons”.
