Children have borne the harshest brunt of the Covid-19 pandemic since its onset. Over 15 lakh children have lost a parent to the pandemic globally, including 1.2 lakh in India. In order to not let the pandemic dampen the spirit of patriotism among children, on the occasion of Independence Day, Believers Eastern Church Dioceses of Ranchi reached out to 650 children in an orphanage and brought smile to their innocent faces.
A team from the Diocese visited this orphanage where they spent time with the children and distributed grocery kits. In addition to grocery kits distribution, the team shared with the children about the importance of the day and made them aware of the concept of social distancing, wearing masks and washing hands on a regular basis.
In the morning, the Diocese also celebrated the 75th Independence Day of India with zeal and patriotic fervor and with due adherence to Covid safety protocols.
The celebrations commenced with the hoisting of the national flag. H.G.Joshua Mor Barnabas Episcopa unfurled the tricolor and delivered the Independence Day speech. In his address, he recalled the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters during the prolonged freedom struggle.
