The Diocese of Ranchi held a sari distribution in eight different locations on International Widows Day, 23rd June 2014. Altogether 860 widows received saris and free meals on that day.
Mr. Naveen Jaiswal (local MLA) inaugurated the program and he said, “The noble deeds of the church for the most neglected of the society opened my eyes. Personally, it would have been a great loss if I don’t attend this program.”
Sis. Kiran, a widow, who finds livelihood in collecting coal, said “Thanks a lot to the church for giving me a sari; due to my financial conditions I could not buy a sari. I feel like somebody cares for me too.”
Believers Church conducts different programs like vocational training and adult literacy classes for widows to improve the quality of their life.
