The second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic in Nepal has left the country’s economy in ruins, with more than half the employed losing their jobs and the Covid-induced lockdowns have pushed millions of Nepalis back below the poverty line.
Amidst this crisis, Believers Eastern Church parishes in Nepal are doing whatever they can to bring help and hope to the poor and the hungry.
On 6 July 2021 a local parish in Believers Eastern Church Diocese of Pokhara identified 12 single women who were in dire need of help and provided relief to them in the form of dry rations. A sack of rice, pulses, oil and salt were provided to them.
Paumaya Purja said, “The first wave of covid-19 took away my husband from me. He had been a strong support to my family. I was also tested positive for Covid-19. I want to thank the church from the bottom of my heart for providing me these relief materials during this difficult time”.
