Diocese of Vizag Reaches Out to Remote Tribal Hamlets with Essentials

Believers Eastern Church Diocese of Vizag distributed essential items to 110 families of Khonds, a remote tribal community in Lambasingi hilly region in Visakhapatnam district, Andhra Pradesh on 27 June 2021.

The relief work was carried out at two Khond-dominated villages which are located 115 kms away from the nearest city Visakhapatnam. Most of the people of these hamlets are daily wage earners who have lost their jobs due to the pandemic containment measures. With no income or savings, these families have been living in extreme poverty and struggling even for daily essentials.

Seeing their plight, the Diocesan team visited the two villages and provided the villagers with the much needed provisions. Each family received a provision kit consisting of rice, dal, cooking oil, essential vegetables, onions and eggs.

The village headmen and all the beneficiaries expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the church for helping them with essential supplies in these difficult times.
