With the Blessings of H.G. Joseph Mor Demetrius Episcopa, the Vizag Diocesan Bishop, and under the guidance of the Diocesan Vicar, one of our dedicated deacons took the heartfelt initiative to lend a helping hand to those affected by the recent floods. He shared the gravity of the situation with the church community and local priests, inspiring many compassionate hearts to join in the relief work.
On Wednesday, September 11th, 2024, he, along with a dedicated team, personally visited several flood-affected families in NTR Colony. This area remains submerged, with homes destroyed, belongings lost, and many families left with nothing. The disaster has severely impacted their livelihoods, leaving them in dire need of assistance.
Our team provided relief to nearly 350 families, distributing essential items such as rice, oil, sugar, atta, salt, biscuits, water bottles, bed sheets, blankets, clothes, toothpaste, tongue cleaners, soaps, candles, matchboxes, rusk, milk packets, laundry detergent, and bread. As they distributed these necessities, the overwhelming need was evident as people gathered in large numbers, rushing to receive the aid.
Raja Rao, one of the beneficiaries, said, “We have been starving and lacking basic necessities to survive, but thanks to the charity work done by Believers Eastern Church, today we received some of what we need. We are so grateful to the church.”
Anupriya, a 26-year-old tailor, shared, “I had three sewing machines, but they were all swept away in the floods. Unless the government compensates me or provides a new machine, my livelihood will be severely affected.”
Please pray:
– For the flood-affected areas, that the affected communities can begin to rebuild their lives.
– For proper assistance to be provided to the homeless.
– For God’s mercy and healing touch upon those who have fallen sick in these difficult circumstances.
– For the people who are helping in this challenging situation.
