Diocese of Purulia Empowers Youth Through Inspirational Retreat

The Diocese of Purulia recently organized a transformative youth retreat, spanning from November 11th to November 12th, 2023, with the overarching theme “Let Your Light Shine.” This spiritually enriching event brought together 135 young participants from various local parishes within the Purulia diocese.

The retreat was graced by the presence of the Diocesan Vicar, who delivered a profound session exploring the theme “God is Light” based on John 8:12. He passionately conveyed the message that God descended to offer His life, providing salvation from sin and illuminating our lives. Emphasizing that embracing Christ Jesus prevents us from dwelling in darkness, he asserted that God is ready to bestow light upon those who accept Him into their lives.

Adding to the spiritual insights, the Youth Leader from the Archdiocese of Kolkata conducted a session on shining as a light before others, drawing insights from Matthew 5:16. The youth leader encouraged the participants to lead lives that reflect the light unto others, embodying the essence of being children of God. This session also included valuable lessons from 1 Timothy 4:12, aiming to guide the youth in both their spiritual journey and professional careers.

The vibrant atmosphere of the retreat was further enhanced by a captivating dance performance by youth members from one of the parishes, showcasing their talents and adding a touch of creativity and celebration to the event.

The retreat reached its culmination on November 12th, 2023, with a joyous celebration of Divine Liturgy and Holy Eucharist. Participants left the retreat profoundly impacted, having experienced a renewed connection with their faith. Many took the opportunity to rededicate their lives to God, making resolute decisions to live in the light and uphold the values imparted during the retreat.
