Diocese of Odisha Empowers Widows to Earn a Livelihood on International Widows Day
June 23, 2014On International Widows Day, 23rd June 2014, the Diocese of Odisha distributed saris to widows. Thirteen widows received saris on that day.
Some of the widows were working as sweepers of for the municipality and others didn’t have any work. Sis. Susmita (Women’s Fellowship) taught them how to make papad and potato chips to earn money for their livelihood.
Sis. Kanta, a 60 year old widow, said, “I am thankful to the church for its love and compassion towards widows.”
This is just one of the many ways Believers Church gives hope to widows, leprosy patients and orphans.
