Believers Eastern Church Diocese of Kolkata held a dry ration kit distribution program on 18 September 2021 in South 24 Parganas District, West Bengal.
The distribution program, organized under the guidance of H.G. Justin Mor Thomas Episopa, saw 35 needy families, including widowed mothers and destitute women, receiving dry ration kits. These families have suffered the double whammy of Covid-19 and cyclone yaas which upended their lives, leaving them struggling for daily sustenance.
Each family received a kit consisting of 5 kg rice, 500 gms dal, 1kg puffed rice, 3 kg potatoes, 500 gms onion, 250 gms oil, 1 kg salt, 2 packets of soya bean, 2 packets of washing powder, and a soap.
“I am a daily wage laborer and my income is hardly sufficient to make ends meet. Thank you for your assistance during this extremely difficult time in our lives” said Ramesh Maity.
“I am very much happy to receive the dry ration kits today. I appreciate the church for caring for us” said another recipient named Shrabonti.
