In an initiative to uplift the lives of underprivileged and unemployed women living in poverty, the Women’s Fellowship Department of Believers Eastern Church Diocese of Kathmandu opened a new tailoring unit in one of the villages in Sindhuli district, Nepal on 19 September 2023.
Despite being located in a relatively developed area and being closely connected to the district headquarters, many women in this village and its surroundings have struggled with unemployment and poverty. Recognizing the pressing need for change, the Women’s Fellowship team decided to establish this tailoring unit, offering a ray of hope to the local women.
On September 19, 2023, the Diocesan Women’s Fellowship leader, along with a Sisters of Compassion team, visited the village to inaugurate the tailoring unit center. They marked the occasion by generously providing five sewing machines, scissors, and measuring tapes to kickstart the operations of the tailoring unit. In addition to supplying the necessary equipment, they also offered heartfelt encouragement to the trainees who will undergo training at the center.
A total of 12 deserving women, who were identified as being in need of valuable skills, have been granted an opportunity to learn the art of stitching at the newly established tailoring unit. Over the next six months, these women will receive comprehensive training in stitching techniques, equipping them with the expertise they need to become self-reliant and supportive contributors to their families.
