Due to extreme cold weather and thick fog, many people in the terrain part of Nepal have been becoming prey to cold-related diseases. Especially, the poor, helpless, school-going children, workers, and the elderly are being badly affected by the cold, some even losing their lives to the intense cold weather.
In a bid to support families that are struggling to keep themselves warm, Believers Eastern Church Diocese of Kathmandu organized a blanket distribution program in Rautahat district which saw 50 extremely needy families receiving warm blankets.
Mr. Sanjay Kaphle, municipality mayor, spoke on the occasion. He said, “I was elected as a mayor in the month of May 2022 and this is the first time that I am attending a program like this. I am so happy to see the church extending a helping hand towards the helpless, needy and poor families. I appreciate your noble work. Now, these families can protect themselves against extreme cold.”
Man Maya, one of the recipients, said, “Due to lack of money, I was unable to buy warm clothes for my family. Thank you so much for fulfilling our immediate needs and putting a smile on our faces.”
