On 7 July 2021, a local parish in Believers Eastern Church Diocese of Kathmandu distributed essential commodities to 100 households in Kathmandu district, that have been affected by the second wave of covid-19 pandemic.
Mr. Balkrishna Shreshtha, ward chairperson, Mrs. Samjhana Kunwar, health division nursing in-charge, and Mr. Jeewan Thapa, society chairman, were present at the distribution program.
On the occasion, Mr. Balkrishna Shrestha, ward chairperson lauded the work of the church, for helping the poor and needy, especially the single women, daily wage earners, and physically-challenged persons, during this time of pandemic. He said, “I am so thankful to Believers Eastern Church for its exemplary service to the society”. He also encouraged the people to follow suit saying, “As socially responsible citizens, lets join our hands together and serve the needy, just as the church is doing.”
At the end of the program, essential commodities were handed over to 100 families. The package of essential commodities consisted of a sack of rice, 1 litre oil, and 1 kg pulses. The beneficiaries received the items happily and expressed their heartfelt thanks to the church for the generous help.
Bijay Rai expressed his gratefulness by saying, “Though I am strong and have good health, I am unable to earn due to the lockdown. Whatever money I had earned before the lockdown also ran out and I was struggling to provide food for my family. Thank you so much for helping us with essential items.”
