The recent torrential rains have caused severe flooding along the riverbanks of the Godavari. In the Bhadradri Kothagudem District, over a hundred villages across seven mandals have been completely inundated, forcing hundreds of people to relocate to relief camps and makeshift shelters.
Responding to the urgent needs of the displaced, the Believers Eastern Church Diocese of Hyderabad has launched relief efforts in five of the most affected villages: Kunavaram, Kummari Gudem, Alluri Nagar, Ramanakka Peta, and Medi Palli. A total of 360 families have been provided with dry ration kits, fresh vegetables, sarees, and blankets. Warm meals, bread, and milk have been distributed to more than 500 people in these areas over the past week.
Please pray for the waters to recede in these villages and for the safety of the people, especially women, children, and the elderly, as more rain and further swelling of the riverbanks are expected.
Also, pray for our priests and youth from the local churches in Khammam Province, who are actively engaged in these relief efforts, bringing aid and comfort to the affected communities, and working towards restoring normalcy in their lives.
