Believers Eastern Church Diocese of Colombo marked a momentous occasion on September 15, 2023, as it held its Vocational Training Graduation Ceremony to celebrate the achievements of seven bright and determined students.
The ceremony commenced with a warm and welcoming speech delivered by Padma, the Vocational Training In-Charge, setting a tone of enthusiasm and encouragement for all in attendance. Following this, the Vicar General of the dioceses addressed the young graduates. His words resonated deeply with the students as he motivated them to recognize that no matter how challenging their journey had been, it would culminate in remarkable success. He emphasized the importance of perseverance and encouraged them to continue applying the valuable skills they had acquired once they returned to their homes.
The highlight of the ceremony was the heartfelt testimonials shared by three of the graduates who had successfully completed their vocational training. Overflowing with joy, they expressed their gratitude to the dedicated teachers and supporters who had provided them with this life-changing opportunity. After the emotional speeches, it was time to distribute the hard-earned certificates to the seven graduates. The beaming teachers proudly presented these symbols of accomplishment, marking the end of one chapter and the beginning of another for these talented individuals.
In a wonderful display of entrepreneurship and creativity, the Vocational Training Students had arranged a small fair, showcasing their handcrafted products, including cakes, candles, tailored dresses, and picturesque drawings. Attendees marveled at the impressive workmanship of the vocational training students, who had honed their skills to create these beautiful items.
S. Sinduja, one of the graduates, shared her personal transformation: “I learned so many things, like how to make cakes and candles and stitch clothes. Before I found this training center, I was lost and didn’t know what to do with my life. My life was unbalanced. But after joining this training center, I discovered the purpose of my life. I must thank the teachers for this.”
Champika, a vocational training teacher, expressed her pride in the students: “These students are incredibly talented and remarkable. They work well in teams and have been a joy to teach. This opportunity has equipped them with skills they can use to make a positive impact and help others.”
Padma, the Vocational Training In-Charge, radiated joy as she reflected on the occasion: “I am elated today. While supervising these young individuals, I witnessed their unwavering dedication and thirst for knowledge. I firmly believe that they will make a difference and become role models for others.”
