The Diocese of Chandigarh held a Poverty Alleviation program for widows on International Widows Day, 23rd June 2014. Widows received gifts including sewing machines, buffaloes and items to start small garment or provision shops.
An officer from the local police station was the chief guest of the program. He appreciated the work of the church among the poor and needy.
Sis. Neelam, a widow said, “I earn a living by selling cosmetic items door to door; it was very difficult for me, nobody ever cares for me. But now, by the help of the church, I can sit in one place and earn.”
Believers Church empowers widows through projects like Adult Literacy and Vocational Training.
