With extreme cold conditions continuing across Nepal, normal life has been badly affected in several parts of the country.
To help the poor and needy survive the harsh winter, Believers Eastern Church Diocese of Birtamod in Nepal held a blanket distribution program in Jhapa district on 13 January 2023.
On this day, the diocese reached out to 70 needy families with warm blankets. These families are extremely poor, and they depend on daily labor to make ends meet.
They extended their heartfelt gratitude to the church for helping them with warm blankets during this harsh winter.
Mr. Ganesh Pokhrel, municipal mayor, Mr. Manoj Subba, ward chairperson, and few other dignitaries were present at the distribution program.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Ganesh Pokhrel, municipal mayor, said, “I am so much grateful to the church for saving the lives of many poor and needy during this harsh winter. The church has done what we have not been able to do for the community. You are doing an extra ordinary work in the society.
Overall, 70 needy families from six different places of the municipality were gifted with new blankets which will be a great help to them to beat the cold winter.
“I am extremely thankful to the church for helping my physically-challenged son and I with warm blanket. God bless your kind heart.” said, Mr. Makardhoj Limbu.
Another recipient by name Anita Dahal said, “Last month, my son was seriously ill, and I had no money to take him to the hospital. During that difficult time, the church came forward to help me financially. Again, today, I am happy to receive a warm blanket as I was desperately in need of it during this winter. I am truly thankful to the Church for the timely help.”
