On the occasion of World Mosquito Day, the Women’s Fellowship team of Believers Eastern Church Diocese of Birtamod in Nepal took initiative to organize mosquito net distribution programs in three districts: Taplejung, Ilam, and Jhapa, all held on August 20, 2023.
This initiative was taken in response to the escalating dengue outbreak in the eastern region of Nepal over the past weeks. With the aim of halting the transmission of dengue and ensuring the safety of impoverished and vulnerable families from this menacing ailment, the diocese took the initiative to distribute mosquito nets on this significant day.
A total of 84 disadvantaged families were provided with these vital mosquito nets, effectively helping protect them from mosquito-borne diseases. During the distribution event, our teams took the opportunity to educate the recipients about various illnesses transmitted by mosquitoes, strongly advising them to make use of the nets as a safeguard for their families’ health.
The recipients of these nets exhibited deep gratitude and heartfelt appreciation towards the church for these beneficial presents. Budha Kumari Tamang, one of the beneficiaries, shared, “I walked for three hours to receive this invaluable gift. I extend my heartfelt thanks for this generosity.” Another beneficiary, Renuka Yadav, expressed her delight, saying, “I am genuinely thrilled to receive this net. I had been using a worn-out net for quite some time. May God bless your compassionate hearts.”
