Diocese of Niranam Marks Independence Day with Flag-Hoisting and Ration Kit Distribution

Believers Eastern Diocese of Niranam celebrated India’s 75th Independence Day with flag-hoisting and ration kit distribution on 15 August 2021.

H.G. Mathews Mor Silvanus Episcopa hoisted the national flag and delivered the Independence Day speech. In his speech, he reminded about the importance of honoring the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters for the nation.

This was followed by the distribution of provision kits to the poor and needy. H.G. Mathews Mor Silvaunus Episcopa handed out the ration kits to people. Around 52 kits were distributed to poor families. Each kit contained 5 kg rice, vegetables and provision items.

In the same way, dioceses of Trivandrum, Cochin, Idukki and Malabar also celebrated the Independence Day while adhering to the protocol pertaining to COVID-19.
