Diocese of Mumbai Starts 13 New Adult Literacy Centers for Illiterate Women

Women’s Fellowship teams in Believers Eastern Church Diocese of Mumbai opened adult literacy centers for illiterate women at 13 different villages on the occasion of International Literacy Day, on 8 September 2021.

Jagiram Bharude, one of the women who has newly enrolled in a literacy class said, “Due to poverty I did not have the privilege of studying in a school. But now that I’m enrolled at this literacy center, I will try to learn how to read and write.”

Adult literacy centers are just one of the ways that Believers Eastern Church is empowering women in rural areas. Adult literacy classes provide these women with a fresh opportunity to build a better life for themselves and their families.
