Believers Church Diocese of Mumbai started providing food supplies to 1,000 families in drought-hit villages in Latur District on 10th May 2016.
When the drought hit these villages, Believers Church was able to reach out to them with immediate relief. Currently, the church is providing water in 12 neediest villages on a daily basis. And now, the church decided to help 1,000 families by providing them with food supplies for one month.
Mr. Amit Deshmukh (MLA) was the chief guest. He inaugurated the food supply distribution program as well as the water supply, which is currently going on in 12 villages.
Each family was given with a food kit containing 50kg wheat, 25kg rice and 1 liter oil. “My husband committed suicide four years ago due to the constant loss he had in his agriculture due to drought and I was left alone with my two children. I don’t have any work and there was no food nor water for our needs,” said Sunita Shinde, one widow. “I was totally distressed. But you reached to me with help. I have no words to express my joy and gratitude for providing me food supplies for one month and drinking water freely. Now, I don’t have any worries for the next one month.”
