On 4th January 2017, Believers Church Diocese of Mumbai inaugurated 22 sanitation facilities for the needy families in a village, located in one of the major drought-prone districts in Maharashtra.
Besides facing many struggles such as droughts and unseasonal rains which pushed them into poverty each year, the people of this village also had no access to toilets and lived in poor hygienic conditions, thus making them vulnerable to a range of health risks.
They had no option but to go to the open fields to defecate. Though some of the families had space to build a toilet in their homes, they could not afford to bear the cost of building a toilet.
Seeing the need, the church constructed 22 toilets for the neediest families residing in this village.
The beneficiaries are very happy and grateful to the church for building the toilets for them freely and improving their living conditions.
