Believers Church Diocese of Lucknow held a relief distribution at a tribal village in Gorakhpur District on 30th August 2017.
This village is inhabited by the Adivasi people. They are very poor and live from hand-to mouth. They live in huts made out of bamboos and hay and some of them stay in homes constructed for them by local government.
When floods brought on by heavy rains hit this village, the residents had to abandon their homes and stay on roadsides, putting up makeshift homes. They lost the little belongings they had owned in the floods and were virtually left with just the clothes on their backs.
During their distressing hour, a disaster relief team from the diocese visited this village and provided cooked meal, sweets and clothes to 250 flood victims. They also distributed drinking water and around 740 kilos of dry rations consisting of rice, dal, wheat flour, potato, soya bean, salt, masala packet and turmeric powder to 35 needy families.
The villagers were grateful for the help and expressed their heartfelt thanks to the church for reaching out to them with immediate needs and providing them with meal, food items and clothes.
