Believers Church Diocese of Kolkata organized a flood relief program on 17th July 2015 and reached to 217 flood affected families with help.
Few villages are still flooded with water. The mud-made and thatched houses were wiped out completely. So, the villagers have taken refuge in relief camps. But, there is a need of food supplies and water.
So, a team of Sisters of Compassion and Church social workers went to this refugee camp under the guidance of Bishop Dr. Juria Bardhan. They distributed tarpaulins to 127 families who lost their houses completely and 10 kg rice and 1 kg dhal to 90 families. The same day, they have also presented a tricycle to a physically-challenged man.
“My hut was destroyed in the flood. Now, I don’t have a place to stay,” said Phulmani Hansda, a recipient. “Thank you so much for giving me this tarpaulin. I can make a temporary shelter and stay there using this.”
When some natural disasters occurs, Believers Church immediately reach out to the affected victims with timely relief and aid through its Humanitarian Assistance Project.
