With an aim to create environmental awareness among general public, Believers Church Diocese of Kolkata observed World Environment Day on 5th June 2016.
The diocese held different events like mass rallies, tree plantation and awareness programs in several places to commemorate the day. Bridge of Hope staff, children, their parents and various other well-wishers of the church enthusiastically participated on the occasion and made it successful. Several dignitaries also were present at the events including police officers, forest rangers, municipality chairmen and village heads.
Over 3,000 children and individuals took part in the rallies with placards and banners carrying messages such as “Do not cut trees”, “Save the forest”, “Plant trees, save lives”, etc. They planted tree saplings around their vicinities and local government school premises. A total of 8,218 saplings were planted that day.
They also organized different activities like drawing competitions, skits and speeches on the theme “environmental protection” to spread awareness about planting and conserving trees.
