Coronavirus isn’t the only virus people have to battle this monsoon, but also vector-borne diseases like malaria, dengue, which are common during the rainy season.
In an initiative to protect children from Covid-19 virus and vector-borne diseases during this monsoon season, Believers Eastern Church Diocese of Kathmandu provided Covid-19 protection kits and mosquito nets to around 80 underprivileged children through Hope for Children on 8 August 2021.
The temperature is between 31 to 36 degree Celsius in the area where the distribution program was conducted. Each year, the area also floods in the rainy season and stagnant water left by floods put the residents at higher risk of contracting mosquito borne diseases like malaria and dengue fever.
Mr. Ramesh Pandey, assistant sub-inspector, Mr. Rupesh Yadav, traffic police officer, and local politician, Mr. Bivash Chaudhary, Maoist party were present on the occasion and helped in handing out the items to children.
Each child received a mosquito net, hand sanitizer (150 ml), 5 pieces of lifebuoy soaps, 5 pieces of washing soaps, and 10 pieces of masks.
