200 economically backward families received poverty-alleviation tools on 30th December 2016 at a program organized by Believers Church Diocese of Jorhat.
The chief guest for the occasion was Mr. Pronod Borah (Child Development Officer). Speaking to the audience he said, “I have never seen an NGO taking such an initiative to help poor and needy in our country. By seeing the work of Believers Church my heart is filled with gratitude towards the leaders of the church for taking efforts to empower the poor”. He further added saying, “We will join our hands together and work for the upliftment of underprivileged people in our country.”
The program came to a close with the chief guest distributing income-generating gifts to the poor families. Weaving machine was distributed to 5 families, piglets were given to 145 families and goats were gifted to 50 families.
Most of the beneficiaries work in private tea garden as laborers to sustain their lives. Now with the help of these gifts, they will be able to augment their income and become financially stable.
