The Diocese of Jasidih inaugurated a widow care center on International Widows Day, 23rd June 2014. Around 500 people attended the program and 400 widows received saris on that day.
The center provides health and hygiene training and literacy classes for the widows. Sixty widows have already enrolled for the adult literacy program.
Ms. Marynila Soren (Member of Jilla Parisad) was the chief guest of the program. She appreciated the work of the church and said, “The church is doing great work for poor and needy by opening such kind of centers. Many associations have different kinds of projects for this kind of people, but people never get any benefit from them. Most of the time the schemes are in paper, but Believers Church is implementing it.”
Sis. Chamiya, a widow aged 40 years, said, “I have four children; until now nobody cared for me and my children. This is the first time somebody came and asked about my needs, thanks a lot to the church for extending its help for my family too.”
Believers Church empowers widows through a number of ways, including vocational training and adult literacy classes.
