Believers Church Diocese of Imphal observed Global Hand Washing Day on 15th October 2016.
Mrs. Chinkim (Staff Nurse, Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Science Hospital) was invited as the resource person for the special awareness program the diocese held on this day.
Addressing the audience, she spoke on the importance of washing hands regularly to prevent diseases. She also demonstrated the steps for washing hands with soap. At the end, a small video clip on hand washing was screened to help the participants clearly understand the message of hygiene and hand-washing.
The program came to a close with a group handwashing activity where everyone who took part in the program washed their hands with soap.
“I am glad that today I was able to learn more about how to wash hands in the right manner. Most people in the villages do not care about hand hygiene and I know many people in my village too who are ignorant of this important life-saving message. I take it as a challenge to educate them about hand washing and pass on to them whatever I have learned today”, said a participant.
