Believers Church Diocese of Gujarat conducted an awareness program on International Literacy Day. 234 women including literacy class students attended the program.
Women’s Fellowship members in the diocese organized the program. Sister Chunile, a Women’s Fellowship member took classes about the importance of literacy in the society as well in one’s personal life.
The literacy class students then came forward and shared their experiences and changes that the literacy classes made in their life. “When my kids came to me with their doubts, I didn’t even know how to hold a text book,” said Khushi, one of the literacy class students. “But through these literacy classes, I am able to read and write. Now I can help my children.”
Believers Church provides vocational trainings and adult literacy classes for women in the backward communities and empowers them to become self-supporting.
