On 15th October 2016, Believers Church Diocese of Dimapur celebrated Global Handwashing Day by organizing an awareness program in a village to promote the practice of handwashing among the locals.
Most of the people living in this village are poor and uneducated. Due to ignorance and lack of awareness, they did not give importance to washing their hands properly with soap. As a result, many of them fell sick often.
Hence, with an aim to educate them on the importance of handwashing, a Women’s Fellowship team took the effort to arrange this awareness class. During the class, the resource person spoke on the importance and benefits of handwashing and taught the participants the proper way to wash their hands.
The program was educative and an eye-opener for many as it made them understand how the simple act of washing hands with soap can effectively prevent the spread of diseases and save lives.
