The Diocese of Dhemaji distributed income-generating gifts among widows in a village on International Widows Day, 23rd June 2014. Overall 100 widows received gifts like piglets and goats.
Due to the poor transportation facilities in this area, it is difficult for people to go out and find a job. Most of the people here earn their livelihood by fishing and many have lost their lives in adverse weather conditions.
The husband of Sis. Hun, a widow of age 30, was struck by a lightning while working in their farm. After her husband’s death she had to leave her in-laws house. The poor helpless lady is staying in her parental home with her two children, aged eight and four years. She received a pair of piglets in the program and was very happy. She said, “I am so thankful to the church for providing me piglets, in the future I can buy a house for me and my children.”
Believers Church changed the lives of thousands of widows on this International Widows Day.
