Believers Church Diocese of Dhemaji provided relief supplies to flood-affected villagers in the state of Assam on 24th August, 2014. 100 families received ration kits containing 10 kg rice, 2 kg dal, 1 kg cooking oil, 2 kg potato, 200gm chili powder, 1 kg salt and 100gm turmeric powder.
The boundary wall which was built to protect low-level villages from rain water broke during a particularly heavy rainfall, which led to severe flooding in these villages. All the mud houses along with all the crops and household items of the villagers were wiped out completely and more than 1000 families were moved to rescue camps.
The beneficiaries were so happy and expressed their gratitude towards the church and Metropolitan. “We lost everything in this flood and there left nothing even to cook food also,” said one among the beneficiaries. “Thank you so much for these stationary items. Now, my children will not starve to death.”
In the wake of disasters, Believers Church quickly forms relief teams to offer food, supplies, medical aid and other necessary items to people in need. Though transportation can be difficult in affected areas, our teams do every possible thing to lend out a helping hand.
