On the occasion of World Food Day, 16th October 2016, Believers Church Diocese of Delhi distributed food to the poor and needy in different parts of Delhi and Haryana.
This distribution also was aimed at bringing awareness to people about conservation of food and the need to help the poor and needy in the surroundings.
Bishop Dr. Simon John, the bishop of Diocese of Delhi, inaugurated the distribution event organized by Youth Fellowship of the diocese. The team held food distribution in three places. Altogether 250 slum dwellers received food packets through the program.
Another team consisting of staff and students voluntarily skipped lunch to share their meal with the poor and destitute children living on the streets and in slums. They cooked the food, packed it and distributed it to 60 poor children and few of their parents.
The children and their parents received the food packets with joy and gratitude. “No one comes and helps us like this. Thank you for your concern for us,” said one of the parents.
