On 20 August 2021, a Women’s Fellowship team in Believers Eastern Church Diocese of Delhi organized a mosquito net distribution program among migrant workers in Gurgaon District, in observance of World Mosquito Day.
The migrant workers have come from different states to work in the construction sites. They have been provided temporary shelters to stay with their families. But, they do not have proper electricity facilities. They get electricity supply only from 3 pm to 7 pm.
Prior to the distribution of mosquito nets, an awareness class was conducted for the migrant families. The district women’s fellowship leader taught the participants about the diseases caused by mosquitoes and the importance of using mosquito nets to protect themselves from such diseases.
Apart from creating awareness, the Women’s Fellowship team also distributed mosquito nets to the participants. A total of 22 migrant families were provided with mosquito nets.
The beneficiaries were joyful to receive the mosquito nets, and appreciated the humanitarian work of the Church.
Mamta, a migrant laborer, said, “My family was struggling to sleep at night because of mosquitoes. I used to think why there was so much mosquitoes in my place. I am thankful to you for organizing this awareness class. From now on I will keep my home and the surroundings clean so that mosquitoes don’t breed and bite my children. I am also grateful to you for providing us with mosquito nets.”
