To commemorate International Widows Day, Believers Church Diocese of Delhi, organized a program on 23rd June 2016. On this occasion, the church gave away various income-generating tools to poor and needy widows to empower them with new livelihood.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Gulab Singh Rathore (Councillor, North Delhi Municipal Corporation), the chief guest of the program, appreciated Believers Church for its noble work in helping the downtrodden people of the community.
That day, 45 destitute widows were given relevant income-generating gifts like sewing machines, tricycle carts, juice and tea vending carts, according to their need. They received the gifts happily, while some even shed tears of joy and expressed their gratitude to the church for the humanitarian work.
Sarita, a widowed mother of four children said, “My husband was bedridden for four years. At that time I took up the job of grass cutting to meet the needs of my family. After the death of my husband, I was at a crossroads in my life. But now as I have received this sewing machine, I will stitch clothes and earn a living to support my children. I am thankful to you for this gift and encouraging me.”
